Completed medical training in Liverpool, before working in Christchurch and Napier in New Zealand. I started specialist training in Sheffield in 2003, including an MD investigating genetic and environmental influences of Rheumatoid Arthritis, before becoming a consultant in 2009.
I specialise in the management of Early Inflammatory Arthritis and am the Clinical Lead for Rheumatology in Sheffield.
Rheumatologist deals with the investigation, diagnosis and management of people living with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases. These diseases are usually caused by problems in the immune system, inflammation, infections, or the gradual deterioration of joints, muscles and bones. Rheumatic and musculoskeletal conditions affect soft tissues, joints, bones, cartilage, tendons, ligaments and muscles – also known as connective tissues.
