Dermatologists are specialist physicians who diagnose and treat diseases of the skin, hair and nails. They may work with children or adults, and treat skin diseases such as eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, acne and cold sores and more serious conditions, such as skin cancer. Most dermatologists are skin surgeons as well as physicians. They may perform some surgery as part of their role, including cosmetic procedures such as removing birthmarks, skin tags or moles.
